In response to the devastation in Louisiana, following Hurricane Ida, All About Me has launched Operation Retail Therapy.
As survivors of Hurricane Katrina, navigating life after a devastating loss is unexplainable to those who have not experienced it themselves. While material things can be repurchased, rebuilt and regained, it can be heartbreaking to see the life you have built taken in just a moment.
Whether you pack up and evacuate or stay to ride out the storm, the loss and devastation feels all the same when you step out into post-hurricane reality and see the destruction and the path you are facing to rebuild your home, your life, your world. It is emotionally, physically and financially draining.
Knowing the overwhelming feeling of the journey facing our friends and neighbors, All About Me is launching Operation Retail Therapy to take just a small part of that rebuilding process and doing what we do best - giving women a moment of retail therapy! We speak to women every day and we know shopping is done for a multitude of reasons, but most leading back to the same end result: feeling good! Whether the act of shopping and interacting brings joy or they are simply searching for the perfect outfit that helps them feel good, it simply gives them a refreshed and revitalized spirit. We watch it happen daily and we want to give this moment to those in need of it most.
While we know clothing and rebuilding a wardrobe is not at the top of any survival list, life will continue after they spend many weeks or months figuring out how to survive. Eventually, further down on the list of things to rebuild, will be their wardrobes. Whether they will be returning to jobs that require a dress code or taking a moment and stepping out to enjoy a wedding, attend a birthday celebration, volunteer at their child's school function, gather for their first girls night in months, or just simply to get dressed in something nice to feel good, many will start with just bare minimum, and some will start with nothing at all.
To help ease the stress and help them get a step ahead, All About Me will be donating nearly 300 brand new items, as well as collecting new or gently used items from our community, and bringing them to the most devastated areas. However, this is not just your typical clothing drive. ORT will be taking these items and setting up a full pop-up shop and giving women in these areas a full shopping experience without the financial stress.
Here's where you can help!
Along with AAM's brand new items, we are asking our friends and local community to help by donating any new, unworn or very gently used women's clothing. While we know those affected are grateful for any donation, we are asking that items be thoughtfully considered. We are hoping to offer these women current fashion items such as casual, dressy or business appropriate dresses, tops, jeans, shorts, shoes, fashion jewelry, etc. One item or twenty items are all appreciated the same. Any contribution makes this successful.
We are asking to attach a tag or paper on your items so we can proudly display names of all that have contributed. All clothing donations will be collected at All About Me starting September 9th. Deadline will be September 24th. There will be additional dates added as we move forward. Please check here or All About Me's Facebook page for updates.
While every single donation offered is appreciated, if you wish to donate a new item or outfit or an All About Me gift card, you can make your purchase and you will be given a personalized "sponsored by" gift tag with your name and message that will be attached to the item/ gift card.
Monetary donations are accepted and ALL will be used to purchase additional supplies for their community. All donations can be sent via Venmo to @allaboutmestyle
All donations can be dropped off or sent to All About Me 1201 E. Judge Perez Dr. Chalmette, LA 70043. We are currently working on pick up and/or drop off points outside of St. Bernard. If you are out of the area and wish to contribute, please contact us via email at operationretailtherapy@gmail.com and we will arrange a pick up or share details of drop off points as they are confirmed.
All About Me and everyone involved in Operation Retail Therapy cannot express how grateful we are to those of you who have already embraced this project. We look forward to sharing more information as this progresses. Thank you for helping us spread the love!
